Paint Coating vs Sealant vs Wax
Paint Coating
Coating is a form of protection that consists of protection ingredients that are either man-made or synthetic. Pain coating is used to provide a barrier of protection to the paint of a car. It also provides the car with a clear glossy finish. The benefits of coating over sealant and wax include strong durability and longevity, the most out of the three: lasting for up to 12-24 months as opposed to sealants and waxes which last for 6-12 months and 1-4 months respectively. However, unlike the other two, coatings are very difficult to apply and remove, usually requiring a professional as to avoid permanently damaging the surface of the vehicle.
Paint Sealant
Paint sealants are liquids that are applied to increase the durability and longevity of protection. Consisting of manmade polymers, resins and synthetics, paint sealants offer an extremely tight molecular barrier to a paint surface for increasing bonding capability and structure. Although offering less durability and longevity than paint coatings, a sealant typically makes up for this by being a lot cheaper and also much easier to apply.
Car Waxes
Car waxes can come in to forms – either as liquid or as a hard paste. Each form features a specific ratio of naturally-occurring wax as the main ingredient. Car waxes are used in a similar way to coating, in that they are meant to protect the paint and/or increase the depth of gloss. Waxes give cars the signature wet shine and just like sealants, are easy to apply on and remove. Also like sealants, they are very cheap to afford, considerably more so than paint coatings.
