Enclosed garages are a luxury that not everybody can afford, or fit within our properties. Because of this, many of our cars are out in the open exposed to the elements. While when you get a new car you might think, “Oh, i’ll place a cover over it every day to keep it in good condition”, the likelihood of this actually happening is probably slim to none because of the time it takes and just how impractical it is in our hectic lives!
So how do you protect cars when you don’t have an enclosed parking space?
Cars are like us. If exposed to the elements, they age more rapidly. So how do we protect ourselves from the elements so that we don’t age so rapidly? We use sunscreen. For cars, you might like to think about automobile detailing in the same way as you think about sunscreen: it’s putting a protective measure in place to ensure that your car doesn’t age as rapidly as it would without it.
Regular details can keep your car from ageing prematurely, and this is particularly important if it is exposed to the elements constantly.
What does car detailing involve exactly?
Car detailing for the most part includes cleaning your exterior with a pressure hose, which also is applied to within the wheel arches to remove debris, dirt and dust.
The exterior wheels are then given a full shampoo, followed by another high-pressure rinse. After washing, the car is dried and cleaned with a chamois, and the doors are opened so they can be effectively wiped down within the door jams. Windows are cleaned, both inside and out, and gloss is applied to mud flaps and your car tyres to keep them in good condition.
After this, you can choose to add a polos to the exterior of your car. This is recommended to keep it in a brilliant shiny condition. You can also have the interior of your car detailed at the same time as the exterior if you think that it needs a bit of a spruce up.
